A Study published in July of this year in the journal PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION showed good improvement in symptoms without adverse side effects using ultrasound-guided release of entrapped ulnar nerve at the elbow, also known as cubital tunnel syndrome. Symptoms include numbness/ tingling/ pain along the ulnar side of the forearm and into the ring and small fingers. Prolonged pressure on the forearm just beyond the elbow, often by extensive use of an armrest, can produce nerve problems, but there are other causes. Usually symptoms are short-lived, but after prolonged irritation the nerve can become entrapped in as it passes through fascia called the cubital tunnel. Then symptoms can become constant.
Under guidance showing the needle adjacent to the nerve, fluid is injected releasing the entrapment. At CMM we use D5W, a dilute solution of sugar in water, as neuroprolo treatment to calm the nerve also.
